1956 International Harvester S-120 4×4 western high desert survivor

One of the very first factory 4wd trucks, this is a barn find with sweaty patina. Lived a life of ranching, elk and deer hunting, and fishing here out in Big Sky Country. Same ranch family owners from 1961-2022, I have a copy of the 1961 Montana title in the ranch name. Very correct and original right down to the jack and tools and a cool period Braden LU-2 PTO 8000lb winch. This is the real deal, truly a window to a bygone era.

Exterior: Original faded red and cream paint, restore or drive as is with a liberal dose of “Sweet Patina Sauce”. Pretty straight overall with a few dings here and there from a life of ranch use. Extremely dry truck, never saw salted roads – one look at the bottom of the doors says it all. Chrome/stainless is shiny and not pitted like most of these are.

Interior: Original and presentable, seat and headliner need work. Gauges are bright and crisp. It’s really in decent survivor condition. Hasn’t been hacked on or fooled with – just simple, plain, and stock vintage 4×4.

Mechanical: According to long-term owners, original 6 cylinder 4 speed drivetrain was in good running and driving condition when parked. Truck sat for several years, now cranks over and will start with priming gas, but WILL NEED all the usual ignition, fuel and brake work to get it running and driving well again – the fun stuff! I didn’t even clean the points, that will be needed at a minimum. Will not run well enough to drive on trailer, so specify non-op when you get a transport quote. No, you can’t fly in and drive this one home!
